Under the aegis of the District Collector's 10 tricycles and 15 pairs of crutches were provided for the physically challenged persons. Mr. Jitender Reddy, Member of Parliament from Mahaboobnagar, distributed the appliances, Commitments also received 100 tricycles and 50 wheel chairs from Light Trust. Mr. Chandrasekar, Minister of Law, Government of Andra Pradesh, distributed the tricycles and wheel chairs to the physically challenged persons recommended by their sangams in Kosgi on 29th August 2001. Mr. Suresh, the Vice-Chairman of Lanco (Light Trust), presided over the program.
The Sangam members took the responsibility to guide the recipients in the proper use of the appliances and also ensure their optimum use. They are now able to come out of the confinement of their homes, to visit others, to get their work done, and even to start small businesses in their respective villages. Earlier, there was a sense of hopelessness among these persons which often led to them harbouring ideas of suicide. Now with their independence they are more self-confident.
