Venkatesh - his story

Venkatesh was very active throughout his schooling wherein he studied in his village Relyampadu from class I to class VII , from class VIII to X in Darur village.The family members showered love and affection towards the client which helped him to gain confidence. The client went to obtain medical certificate at the age of 13 on june 13th 1996 wherein the disability percentage was found to be 40 .The client took the initiative in forming the Self Help Groups for the differently abled with twelve members in it. The group started functioning on 24-06-2003 with its name SREE AANJANEYA VIKALANGULA SANGAM and started saving Rs.20 per month The group use to have meeting in the nearby community hall.

In march 2004 CIF was sanctioned to Relyampadu VO and the clients name was considered for the sanction of loan amount as the client had applied for starting a soda (bottle which has marble in it) unit. Basing on the project details given by the client and on the goodwill that the client enjoys in the village and on the surety of the group the client was allotted Rs.10,000 and was given time of 20 months for repayment. The recurring investments include gas cylinder which costs about 300 rupees and for flavors around 200 rupees. other costs include daily expenditure of rupees 60 which include lemons and sugar.

The client started to earn around 250 rupees and the profit was about 190 rupees a day. Soon the client started to pay back the loan amount about thousand rupees per month even after which the client had a profit of around 4000 rupees per month. With the savings that the client had from the soda unit and with a bank loan of 10,000 rupees the client started a petty provision store. Now since it is off season the client is not selling sodas and will be back in the soda business in the month of December. He became a source of inspiration and success guide to many of the disabled youth and normal youth. The client says that his success is because of the constant support that he had received from the velugu team earlier and now the Commitments Samardh project team comprising of social worker Mr.Aaanjaneyulu, Ms.Anuradha, the mandal coordinator with out whom he would have not gained in confidence to use his skills in forming group, in selling sodas .
